Organic synthesis with stable isotopes
Description
Nondevelopmental syntheses of methanol-13C, acetic-1-13C acid, bromoacetic-1-13C acid, glycine-1-13C, acetylene-13C2, lithium acetylide-13C2 ethylenediamine complex, ethylene-13C2, polyethylene-13C, glucose-1-13C, and ribose-1-13C were accomplished. A five-step synthesis of triolein-1',1'',1'''-13C3 was accomplished in the past year. The last annual report described a nine-step synthesis of D,L-histidine,1-3-15N2 from glycine-15N and potassium thiocyanate-15N. This same synthesis was employed to prepare D,L-histidine-3-15N. Work on a seven-step developmental synthesis of L-ornithine-2-13C was also conducted
