34S isotope separation by photodissociation process due to multi photon absorption of SF6 molecules by the exposure of high power-short pulse Co2 laser

Description

In this paper, we have briefly reviewed the ro-vibrational energy states of SF6 molecules and the isotopic differences of energy levels, the process of multi photon absorption and molecular dissociation by laser. The details of experimental set-up which has been arranged in Laser Research Center of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, are explained. We could succeed to separate 34S from the natural mixture of SF6 by the removal 32S isotope due to the multiphoton absorption process at 10.6μm. The experiments have been repeated for the various pressures of the exposure d cell, the different ratios of SF6:H2, several pulse repetition rates and various laser energy densities. We have determined the maximum value of separation factor of SF6 to be ∼33.3. The gradual characteristics peak of 32SF6 versus laser fluence, is monitored by IR-Spectrometer
