Incoherent interaction between a leading hadron and a nucleus
- 1. Institute of Nuclear Physics, Moscow State University
Description
The generalized optical model is used to calculate the yields of leading particles (protons and pions) in hadron--nucleus interactions. It is assumed that after the interaction the leading particle loses part of its gluon cloud, which is restored after the characteristic time lambdaapprox.E. This was taken into account by decreasing the interaction cross section of the leading hadron according to the law sigma0(z) = sigma/sub t/[1-(1-β)exp(-z/lambda)]. The results are in good agreement with the experimental data in the energy range from E = 6.9 to 100 GeV for x = 0.8
