Creators

Description

Radiological protection in French uranium mines is reviewed. The history of the mine development and the policy relating to protection in the mines is covered. The mean annual effective dose equivalents for underground miners and effective individual doses in mines from 1983-1985 are given. The causes of excess exposures are considered. The efficiency of radon removal by ventilation is discussed. Irradiation levels are plotted against productivity of mineral ore extraction for nine mines in 1983-85. Individual dosimetry and improved reliability of dosimetry information will assist the radiation protection programme. (U.K.)
