Description
RFQ1 has been designed as a 600 keV, 75 mA cw radiofrequency quadrupole (RFQ) accelerator with a 50 kV injector that will be used to study the operation and current limits of an RFQ structure. Its injector must operate over a wide current range at a fixed energy and must match the acceptance of the RFQ structure over the entire range. This paper discusses the requirements and the final design of the injector. Experiments performed on existing test facilities to study some aspects of the design are also presented
