Quantified measurement of brain blood volume: comparative evaluations between the single photon emission computer tomography and the positron computer tomography

Description

The quantified measurement of cerebral blood volume is interesting for the brain blood circulation studies. This measurement is often used in positron computed tomography. It's more difficult in single photon emission computed tomography: there are physical problems with the limited resolution of the detector, the Compton effect and the photon attenuation. The objectif of this study is to compare the results between these two techniques. The quantified measurement of brain blood volume is possible with the single photon emission computer tomogragry. Abstract (French)

Un certain nombre de travaux ont montre l'interet de la mesure quantifiee du volume sanguin cerebral (VSC) dans l'etude de l'autoregulation circulatoire cerebrale. La mesure quantifiee du VSC est de pratique courante en tomographie par emission de positons (TEP); elle est par contre plus difficile en tomographie d'emission monophotonique (TEM) en raison notamment des problemes physiques lies a la resolution limitee du detecteur, au diffuse Compton et a l'attenuation des photons. Le but de cette etude est de comparer les resultats des mesures quantifiees de VSC et TEM et en TEP
