Description
To ascertain the soil radon concentration level and distribution in Xiamen, during May 4 to 12 in 2009 a survey of spatial distribution of radon concentration in soil was carried out using FD-3017 RaD radon monitor in Xiamen. Then the 100 sampling sites were analyzed and the contour map of soil radon concentration in Xiamen was curved. The results indicated that the data set spans from 450-40800 Bq/m3 and the average is 7538 Bq/m3. The radon concentration in soil is higher in Tongan district. The soil radon concentration varies with different types of soil and is higher in clay. The radon concentration in soil is also higher when the surface of soil is hard and dry. (authors)
