Partial-wave analysis of K-p → π+-Σ-+ between 1.73 and 2.11 GeV

Description

Cross-section, angular-distribution, and polarization measurements are presented for 17 energies. Results of a partial-wave analysis based on these data are presented. The presence of resonant structures in the F₁₅ and D₁₃ waves is confirmed. The masses, widths, and resonant amplitudes are determined: ER=1.925±0.008 GeV, t=-0.137±0.015, and Γ=0.146±0.022 GeV for the F₁₅; ER=1.985±0.005 GeV, t=-0.093±0.006, Γ=0.208±0.022 GeV for the D₁₃. The D₅ and F₅ octets, F₇ decuplet, and G₇ singlet are studied for SU₃ symmetry of reduced coupling constants; possible conclusions are limited by uncertainty about the detailed energy dependence of the couplings. The D₁₃ resonance is shown to be compatible with the D₃ nucleon resonance seen around 2.040 GeV.
