UV observations of TT Arietis and the magnetic rotator hypothesis

Description
Short and long wavelength IUE spectra have been obtained and compared with the white light variations of TT Arietis. It is shown that the variations at these and x-ray wavelengths round the orbital cycle rule out a previously proposed hot spot accretion disk model for TT Ari. An alternative model involving a magnetized white dwarf primary rotating with the photometric period of 0.1329 days is proposed. (U.K.)
