Description
Both magneto-optical effect and ferromagnetic resonance linewidth depend on the L-S coupling of related electrons. Polar Kerr rotation (θ) spectra and ferromagnetic resonance at 9 GHz of polycrystalline BiYCaVIn iron garnets with different indium content were studied. The peak value of θ at 2.7 eV, induced by Bi, decreases as In content increases Δ H also decrease with In content. It is suggested that the octahetral Fe ions which are substituted by In(iii) also contribute to the new peak of θ and the indium substitution results in change of the mixing of Bi orbitals and change of L-S coupling of Fe in garnet
