Description
During cooling, accompanied by injection of boric acid, the pH of the primary fluid becomes acid and creates a significant increase in the activity of corrosion products in solution. The change in the primary medium from reducing to oxidizing conditions produces a significant increase in cobalt isotope activity. The separate effects of cooling and oxygenation are quantified and presented in detail. The consequences of the different shutdown phases on primary circuit contamination are discussed. (author)
