Segregation effects in surface layers of titanium based amorphous alloys under deformation

  • 1. RAN UrO, Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst., Izhevsk (Russian Federation)

Description

Using the local Auger-electron spectroscopy method redistribution of the components in titanium based amorphous alloys in conditions of tension and compression deformation under amorphous ribbons bending is studied. Deformation induced components redistribution is shown to take place in thin surface layers of 20 nm thickness but bulk layers similar to viscous liquids do not be effected to relaxation in external stresses fields. Stresses relaxation is suggested to occure in different ways but the same surface layers state with minimal surface energy is achieved. Refs. 9, figs. 2
