Status of QCDPAX

Description

QCDPAX is a local memory MIMD parallel computer designed for simulations in lattice QCD. Processing units (PU's) are connected in a toroidal two-dimensional nearest-neighbor-mesh. There are two ways for communications. One is a MIMD communication between the adjacent PU's by setting the flag in the shared memory between the adjacent PU's. The other one is to take the global synchronization among all processors; this is SIMD-like MIMD. We have completed construction of the computer made of 240 PU's (7 GFLOPS peak speed) and we will complete construction of the final QCDPAX made of 480 PU's (14 GFLOPS peak speed) by the next March. The program is written in terms of C-like language, psc(parallel scientific c) and the tuning is possible at an assembly language, qfa (quick floating assembler) developed for the purpose of optimizing the object code.
