Defect studies by positron annihilation spectroscopy: techniques and application

  • 1. Pakistan Inst. of Nuclear Science and Technology, Islamabad (Pakistan). Nuclear Physics Div

Description

Positron Annihilation Spectroscopic techniques are required as sensitive and reliable methods to study defects in metals and alloys. One of the well-known techniques namely Doppler broadening line-shape measurement has been set up at PINSTECH using high resolution HPGs spectrometry. Some preliminary results have been obtained and heat treated Inconel-825 which is nickel base super alloy. Clear difference can be seen in the broadening of 511 keV annihilation line as well as line-shape S-parameter with respect to aging time. (authors)
