Description

Using a recently proposed method, which relates the heavy quark masses to the strong coupling constant through e+e- data starting from the request of self-consistency of the usual QCD description, we 'simulate' the appearance of a top quark at a certain CM energy Wsub(t) and look for the Wsub(t) value at which the self-consistency condition is satisfied. For a class of 'reasonable' top quark data parametrizations we find that such a condition is only satisfied in the range 40 GeV < or approx. 1/2 Wsub(t) < or approx. 90 GeV. (orig.)
