Ten-year electricity transmission network development plan - Edition 2025
Description
An essential infrastructure for the country, the electricity transmission network acts as a link between generation sources and all electricity consumers. The architecture of the current network, the backbone of the French electricity system, made up of very powerful power lines (400,000 volts) and numerous lines at various lower voltage levels, is a national asset, adapted to a France in which electricity represents just over a quarter of the energy consumed by the country. France has set itself ambitious targets for decarbonizing its economy and reindustrializing, which should raise the share of electricity in our energy mix to over 50% by 2050. This means we need to strengthen our public power transmission network. Through its Strategic Investment Plan to 2040 (SDDR), RTE is proposing a prioritized, optimized and timed strategy for transforming the high and extra-high voltage network over the next 15 years. Prior to these major orientations, a consultation process was organized with all stakeholders, as well as a public consultation that resulted in numerous contributions. Half of these came from local authorities and developers. In this respect, the SDDR constitutes a national and territorial development plan. The main orientations of this investment plan will be the subject of a public debate, organized under the aegis of the National Commission for Public Debate, and of opinions from the State, the Energy Regulation Commission and the Environmental Authority. Following these opinions and public participation, RTE will publish a definitive version of its investment plan for 2040, which will constitute its reference strategy. This document presents the 2025 network development plan, its main orientations and the practical information sheets
