Effective increase in the longitudinal beam emittance in case of transition energy crossing
Description
The critical energy traverse by a beam neglecting the spatial charge has been considered by means of numerical integration of the synchrotron oscillation equations. It is shown that taking account of the non-linear terms in the synchrotron oscillation equations results in a change of the initial distribution function and an effective increase of the longitudinal beam emittance
