Description
A model for calculating the dose distribution in heterogenous media. A theoretical model based on the Fermi-Eyges multiple scattering theory was developed for the dose distribution of therapeutic electron beams in heterogeneous media. The central axis depth dose distributions for several energies and field sizes were obtained with a plane parallel ionization chamber. Phantom materials simulating soft tissue, bone and lung were used in this study. The theoretical results and the experimental data are compared, showing a good agreement. (author)

A teoria de espalhamento de Fermi-Eyges serviu como base para a construcao de um modelo teorico para a distribuicao de dose absorvida, que considera as caracteristicas de um feixe terapeutico de eletrons em meios heterogeneos. As curvas de distribuicao de dose no eixo central foram obtidas com uma camara de ionizacao de placas paralelas, para energias e tamanhos de campo variaveis. Os materiais utilizados, como fantoma, simulam tecido mole, osso e pulmao. Os resultados teoricos sao comparados com os dados experimentais, apresentando boa concordancia. (author)Additional details
