Description

The electron magnetohydrodynamic (EMHD) equations are used to derive a novel set of nonlinear equations which govern the dynamics of weakly interacting medium-frequency electromagnetic waves in nonuniform magnetoplasmas in which the immobile ions form a neutralizing background. The equations can be used to study the properties of electromagnetic turbulence and coherent nonlinear structures on comparatively fast time scales. (orig.)
