Mechanical properties of single-crystals of solid solutions of the system Sb/sub 1.5/Bi/sub 0.5/Te3-Bi2Se3

Description

The strength characteristics of single-crystals of solid solutions of the system Sb/sub 1.5/Bi/sub 0.5/Te3-Bi2Se3, grown by Czochralski's method, were studied as a function of the Bi2Se3 content in compression and bending tests. The ultimate strength of single crystals and their elastic modulus increase as the Bi2Se3 concentration increases. In the bending tests the interlayer shear stress along the basal planes increases linearly from 3 to 6 MPa as the Bi2Se3 content increases
