A study on the response of electronic dosimeters to mixed neutron-gamma radiation field

  • 1. Radiation Safety Systems Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

In the practice of radiation protection in situ gamma dose is measured by ion chamber based direct reading dosimeters (DRDs). But in case of mixed neutron-gamma radiation field in situ neutron dose estimates of workers were not possible with conventional neutron measuring devices. With the advent of newer technology several electronic dosimeters have become commercially available with the capability of measuring neutron as well as gamma radiation doses. This study was directed towards finding the efficacy of these neutron and gamma measuring electronic dosimeters (DMC 2000GN) as an n-γ DRD prior to adopting for routine dosimetry purposes
