Investigation of influence of fuel loading organization method on neutron field shaping in the WWER-440 reactor

Description
Experimental results on determining shielding efficiency of the WWER-400 reactor vessel metal at the expense of installation of heavy irradiated fuel elements in cells having the largest contact area with a reflector are given. Installation of heavy irradiated fuel elements in peripheral cells of the core results in decrease of fast neutron flux on the reactor vessel not less than 2.5 times. Interrelation between fast neutron field profile along core length and location of control rods is found. Considering this interrelation fast neutron flux can be decreased by 20-30%
