Autoradiographic studies on percutaneous absorption of flumethasone-pivalate

The distribution of topically applied radioactive flumethasone-pivalate was studied by means of autoradiography (direct mounting method). This substance was deposited in horny and Malpighian layers of epidermis and skin appendages (hair follicle, sebaceous gland and apocrine gland) more densely than in epidermis. This distribution pattern was discussed in comparison with the distribution patterns of the previously studied topical corticosteroids, namely, hydrocortisone, hydrocortisone-17-butyrate, triamcinolone-acetonide, betamethasone-17-valerate, 17-α-desoxymethasone, fluocinolone-acetonide and beclomethasone-dipropionate.
