Description

Accident Management Expert System (AMES) is an operational aid to decision makers concerned with the management of low probability, high consequence severe accidents. Such severe accidents in commercial nuclear power plants are seen as events which threaten the integrity of the core or the containment protection systems. AMES consists of an expert system developed from a deep knowledge base and characterized by success paths in the form of a response tree. Lessons learned from two experiments provide the basis for selection of this method of expert system development
