The results of radiation therapy of pituitary tumours

  • 1. Muenster Univ. (Germany, F.R.). Radiologische Klinik und Poliklinik

Description

Effective tumour control was achieved in the majority of large pituitary tumours long-term. Combined treatment was superior to primary radiation therapy with a tumour control rate of 93% as against 66%. Opthalmological symptoms were improved in 70 to 90%. Cephalalgias, as a rule, regressed completely. Hormonal activity was influenced in most acromegaly patients at a tumour control rate of 69%. (orig.)
