Description
This paper presents the test results which are performed to confirm the characteristics of the advanced boron injection tank(BIT). The advanced BIT is now being developed for the Next Generation PWR in Japan, which is expected to come after the advanced PWR. The advanced BIT realizes the function of boron injection passively by using the principle of the depressurization boiling for its driving force. Some kinds of tests are being performed to confirm the performance of this system and to obtain design data. The scale model tank designed to withstand the pressure of 50 kg/cm2 is used in the tests. About 200 thermal-couples are settled in the tank to measure the three-dimensional temperature distribution in the tank at heat-up stage, stand-by stage, and injection stage. Stable temperature distribution in the tank at each stage and expected injection performance are confirmed. (author)
