The influence of fractionated irradiation on the incorporation rate of a radioactive DNA-precursor

Description
An increase of 125I-UdR incorporation with increasing fractionation interval was observed, in dependence of the doses administered. The effect was larger in whole body experiments than in bone marrow labelling experiments. After γ-irradiation the increase was higher than after neutron irradiation and could be observed even after shorter fractionation intervals. Compared with a single irradiation, the 125I-UdR incorporation after fractionated irradiation with intervals of 4 hours was about 20% higher after γ-irradiation, but only about 7% higher after neutron irradiation. In Abhaengigkeit von der verabreichten Dosis wurde mit zunehmender Fraktionierung auch eine zunehmende Inkorporation von 125J-UdR beobachtet. Dieser Effekt war bei Ganzkoerperversuchen staerker ausgepraegt als bei Knochenmarkmarkierungsversuchen. Nach γ-Bestrahlung war die Zunahme staerker als nach Neutronenbestrahlung. Im Vergleich zu Einzelbestrahlungen war die 125J-UdR-Inkorporation nach fraktionierter Bestrahlung im Abstand von 4 Stunden bei Gammabestrahlung um 20% hoeher, bei Neutronenbestrahlung dagegen nur um ca. 7%.
