Conceptual design of a multipurpose heavy quark factory based on superconducting cavities
Description
Initially motivated by the study of future linear colliders able to provide TeV center of mass energy (√s) and Luminosity (L) in the 1033-1034cm-2s-1 range, U. Amaldi and myself realized that an intense source of heavy quarks and τ leptons was needed to perform precision tests of the standard model (and beyond). We then studied the conceptual design of a beauty factory 1,2,3) based on superconducting linear collider with recirculators and damping rings, which is presented here. This accelerator complex offers other possibilities: it can used moreover as a continuous linear electron accelerator for nuclear physics
