The review on radiographic testing in 1995

  • 1. Nippon Inst. of Tech., Miyashiro, Saitama (Japan)

Description

The activities of Research and Technical Committee of Radiographic Testing in 1995 were reviewed. The section meetings of the committee were held 4 times in the year and a total of 55 studies were reported. Those reports were assigned into 9 groups presenting the following contents; industrial standards, fundamental problems, image quality, instrument for testing, image processing, computer tomography neutron radiography, practical application and safety control. The outlines of these reports were presented. JIS Z 3104-1995 (Radiographic testing method for steel welded joint) was revised in Feb. 1995 and the major revised points were reported by Hirayama et al. and Inagaki et al. The energy of forward scattering x-ray was determined and the energy reduction rate was found to be dependent on μT. Ooka et al. studied the correction of image quality in the imaging of a double wall at a weld and proposed a model for estimation of the correction value. Ogino et al. reported the development of microfocused x-ray tube of 10 μm in focus length. The fundamental characteristics of x-ray radiographic images in image processing were reported by Kobayashi. High resolution x-ray CT system with PCD line image sensor as a detector was developed to improve the degree of detection for small defects in fine ceramics. Concerning the trend of incorporating ICRP-1990 recommendation into a law Tsujimoto reviewed the present Japanese laws concerned. (M.N.) 75 refs
