Irradiation losses in discontinuing between planar optical waveguides

Description
In this work, the electromagnetic scattering properties between integrated planar optical waveguides are analyzed. The modal matching technique is used to evaluate the radiation, as well as the reflection and transmission coefficients. Both symmetrical and non-symmetrical planar waveguides are considered. Step and graded index profiles are take into account. Results of radiation loss are given. (Author) 15 refs
