Decommissioning in AEA Technology

AEA Technology operate a wide range of nuclear facilities from prototype reactors, material testing reactors, fuel manufacture and reprocessing plants, to research and development laboratories. Each of these facilities require separate consideration of the particular requirements for a decommissioning programme of work. This paper addresses these considerations and details some of the operational solutions and experiences in carrying out today's decommissioning programme across the four major nuclear sites:-Dounreay; Harwell; Windscale and Winfrith.
