133Cs Nuclear magnetic resonance of cesium n-alkanoates

Description

133Cs NMR spectra of high resolution were obtained for homologic series of cesium salts, CuH2n+1COOCs and [Li2(CuH2n+1)COO)3]Cs where 0≤n≤8, dissolved in anhydrous n-carboxylic acids with corresponding n. Effect of length of aliphatic chain of alkanoate-anion and lithium cations, coordinating anions, on chemical shift of 133Cs NMR was established. Growth of n and substitution of lithium-containing complex anion for simple alkanoate-anion lead to low-field chemical shift. Nature and relative role of local diamagnetic and paramagnetic contributions to the chemical shift of 133Cs NMR are doscissed. NMR spectra enabled to make a conclusion about the increase of strength of coordination lithium-oxygen point in complex alkanoate anion with growth of aliphatic chain length
