General study on heavy charged particle irradiation system for HIMAC clinical trial

  • 1. National Inst. of Radiological Sciences, Chiba, Chiba (Japan)

Description

P005 contains many subjects of study regarding advancement and promotion of the routine carbon-ion therapy. This year, much effort was put on the preparation of 430 MeV/n beam. The influence of a gap in a layer-stacking bolus on a depth-dose distribution was measured and estimated. The feasibility of FPD in the treatment room was also investigated. In addition, we conducted the development of tissue-equivalent multi-layer ionization chamber, measurement of radiation quality with GEM or Si detector and the estimation of clinical effectiveness of therapeutic beam by tissue-equivalent proportional counter (TEPC) measurement.
