Evaluation of the patient with hoarseness

Hoarseness has a broad range of etiologies, and in most cases a diagnosis can be made by recording an accurate history and by conducting a thorough physical examination. This paper will present an overview of the more common voice disorders and explain in which cases imaging studies such as computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging are necessary.
