Nuclear technology research in Germany
Description
German nuclear R+D is now focused on key safety issues of LWRs. Additional work concentrates on basic studies on innovative systems rather than the evolutionary improvement of current LWR designs, on final waste disposal in geologic formations, including fuel conditioning (with or without prior reprocessing), and on gaining experience in the final removal of nuclear plants after shutdown.
