GRS workshop ''Safety of extended dry storage of spent nuclear fuel''. Conference report
- 1. Gesellschaft fuer Anlagen- und Reaktorsicherheit (GRS) gGmbH, Garching (Germany)
Description
The Gesellschaft fuer Anlagen und Reaktorsicherheit gGmbH in Garching initiated in 2017 an annual workshop. The experts focused on scientific and technical aspects that may be important for extended storage. With 18 oral contributions the science-focused agenda of the workshop reflected the broad diversity in current research projects. The subject ranged from cladding material behavior to the thermo-mechanical simulation of fuel rods and fuel assemblies. Furthermore, specific aspects were addressed such as non-destructive testing of asks or management issues, as well as analysis of the still unresolved technical issues need to be closed by further research programs.
