Modelling of the radiation situation with the LPM ESTE model in an urban environment after the application of a dirty bomb

Description

Presented is the Lagrangian particle model (LPM) implemented in the SW tool ESTE CBRN for the modelling of propagation in urban areas, as well as the methodology for calculating radiation impacts in urban areas. This modelling approach brings the advantages of efficient parallelization of the calculation, which enables the achievement of results in a significantly shorter time interval. Within the contribution, a hypothetical event with a dirty bomb in a real urban area (Kosice city center) is modelled, from the initialization event to the calculation of radiation impacts. Differences between different models of propagation in the atmosphere - LPM, Euler's approach and Gaussian Particle Trajectory model (PTM) are also discussed. (authors)
