Parity violating electron scattering at Bates and CEBAF
Description
Parity-violating electron scattering has in the past been used to measure the weak mixing sin2 θW. More recently, theoretical interest in strange quark contributions to hadronic matrix elements has generated a new set of proposals to use PV electron scattering as a neutral weak probe of hadronic structure. Experiments to measure these strange quark effects are underway at the MIT-Bates Laboratory and planned for CEBAF
