Session 142 - Roundtable: Operational Safety Excellence - Back to Basics (R9.1)

This session focused on getting back to the basics for achieving operational safety excellence. Over 25 years ago, DOE implemented Integrated Safety Management across all its operations. Since then, there has been varying focus on work planning and control, nuclear conduct of operations, and safety culture. This panel discussed those operational areas (e.g., procedural compliance, lockout/tag-out, slips/trips/falls) that still regularly result in upset conditions, and possible approaches to improving performance.
