Effect of disordering in rare earth titanates on combination scattering spectra
Description
Rare earth titanates prepared by quenching from a melt have been studied by the Raman scattering microscopy method. Analysis of the Raman scattering spectra of Ln2Ti2O7 and Ln2TiO5 (Ln is r.e.e. and Y) obtained by the initial oxide melting with successive quenching with rates of approximately 102 and 105-106 grad/s has shown that synthesis conditions effect upon compound structure. With increased quenching rate disordering in the structure also increases or the phase transition takes place. The method of light combination scattering is more sensitive to structure disordering and impurities in synthesized substances as compared to the X-ray structural analysis
