Cumulative life assessment system for the Hunterston B reactors

  • 1. Atkins (W.S.) Science and Technology, Epsom (United Kingdom)
  • 2. Scottish Nuclear Ltd., Glasgow (United Kingdom)

Description

A computerized system designed to perform life usage calculations on Hunterston AGR components has been developed. This Cumulative Life Assessment System (CLASS) uses actual plant histories as the basis for the calculations and is able to examine the effects of different future operating patterns. Component features such as individual welds are addressed with temperature and stress data being taken from existing assessment reports and individually factored to provide values that are relevant to past and predicted future events.
