Automatic measurement of the beam-flight phase in a cyclotron

  • 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR). Lab. of Nuclear Problems

Description

Two methods of analysis of the phase signals in the cyclotron by a computer are discussed. In accordance with the first method, the beam flight phase is calculated by the points of zero line intersection by the signals. The phase is determined with an accuracy of 2 deg. The processing time of the signals from the phase trasducers ranges from 1 to 10 s. The phase determination method by reference to the 2nd harmonic is more complicated and requires more machine time as compared with the first method. The 2nd harmonic method is preferrable under intensive interference conditions as well as in the events when the signal has an arbitrary shape
