Measurement of Hp (10) in medical cardiologists in a hospital institution in the city of Medellin
- 1. Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Medellín (Colombia)
Description
The fluoroscopic systems used in clinical interventions can produce high doses due to the prolonged exposure time so it is necessary to use dosimetry in the occupational personnel in order to know the radiological risk to which they have been exposed. The purpose of this work is to estimate the effective personal dose rate Hp (10), to three cardiologists, based on the patient's body mass index and the catheter entry route. The data are acquired through TLD100 crystals and the HARSHAW 3500 reader. Eighty-eight procedures performed in a hemodynamic service are presented in the city of Medellin, Colombia. The results show that the doses received in each doctor are different despite the similarity of the procedure, catheter entry route and body mass index of the patient, either for a diagnostic evaluation or a therapeutic intervention.
