Learning new tricks from old data: capitalizing on decades of investment
Description
On July 22-23, 2010, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) hosted a gathering of scientists who are or have been involved in creating and/or maintaining data from the U.S. life-span radiation effects studies with beagle dogs. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the status of the data and materials remaining from those studies and reach a consensus about how those data and materials could be used in the future. The primary concern driving these studies was the safety of nuclear workers or the public during exposure to various types of radiation via various mechanisms.
