Heavy quark production at HERA

Description

Charm production at HERA from the 1994 data samples of the H1 and ZEUS experiments with luminosities of ∝3 pb-1 each has been observed, where 27.5 GeV positrons collided with 820 GeV protons. Results are presented on elastic J/ψ in photoproduction and deep inelastic scattering (DIS), inelastic J/ψ in photoproduction, D*± in photoproduction and open charm in DIS. Cross sections are given for the above channels as function of the γp c.m. energy, W, and are compared with QCD calculations. (orig.)
