Description
Economic, social and ecological development are inseparably interlaced. This is the essential message of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development 1992 in Rio. Linking of economic, social and ecological aspects is also the main approach of German environmental policy. Environmentally compatible recycling, comprehensive product liability, and just attribution of environmental consumption costs are major targets of this national strategy for the promotion of sustainable development. High standards and strict limiting values form the foundation of effective environmental protection. The further integration of environmental protection in all areas of activity and policy fields will be a central concern especially in the 90s. (orig./TF)

Wirtschaftliche, soziale und oekologische Entwicklung bilden eine untrennbare Einheit. Dies ist die wesentliche Botschaft der Konferenz der Vereinten Nationen fuer Umwelt und Entwicklung 1992 in Rio. Die Verknuepfung wirtschaftlicher, sozialer und oekologischer Aspekte ist der zentrale Handlungsansatz auch der deutschen Umweltpolitik. Umweltvertraegliche Kreislaufwirtschaft, umfassende Produktverantwortung und eine verursachergerechte Anlastung von Kosten der Umweltnutzung sind wesentliche Gestaltungsziele dieser nationalen Strategie zur Foerderung der nachhaltigen Entwicklung. Hohe Standards und strenge Grenzwerte, bilden das Fundament eines wirksamen Umweltschutzes. Handlungsschwerpunkt vor allem in den 90er Jahren ist die weitere Integration des Umweltschutzes in alle Handlungs- und Politikbereiche. (orig./TF)Additional details
