Description
The search for an optimal design of a heavy water plant is done by means of a simulation model for the mass and enthalpy balances of the SH2-H2O exchange process. A symplified model for the simulation diagram where the entire plant is represented by a sole tray tower with recicles, and heat and mass feeds/extractions was used. The tower is simulated by the method developed by Tomich with the convergence part given by the algorithm of Broyden. The concluding part of the work is centered in setting the design parameters (flowrates, heat exchange rates, number of plates) wich give the desired process operating conditions. (author)

Modelo de simulacion para el cierre de los balances de entalpia y materia, en el proceso de intercambio SH2-H2O, para la optimizacion del diseno de una planta de agua pesada. Se utilizo un modelo simplificado de diagrama de simulacion donde toda la planta se presenta en una unica torre de platos, con reciclos y alimentaciones/extracciones de calor y materia. La simulacion de la torre se efectuo por el metodo de Tomich con el algoritmo de convergencia de Broyden. La tarea realizada consistio en fijar los parametros de diseno (caudales, cargas de calor, numero de platos) para lograr las condiciones de proceso deseadas. (autor)Additional details
