Analysis of charged particle laser acceleration stability near the Cherenkov threshold
Description
Numerical model of charged particle laser acceleration by a surface electromagnetic wave is considered for a particular case of 200 keV electron ejection above the surface of lithium niobate crystal irradiated by the 1 μm 1010 W/cm2 laser. Results of stability analysis for TD-focusing variant in the general case with regard to particle absorption by dielectric are presented. It is shown, that under adiabatic change of a compensating magnetic field, close to the threshold, acceleration process retains stability. Results of calculations of phase volume with regard to limitations, linked with the surface presence are presented
