Description

Wastes from the ceramics industry, grog type obtained from scrap and waste burnt bricks marble and granite industries from the cutting and polishing of plates and ornamental products of local beneficiary industries are being produced constantly with no control and discarded into regions, assaulting the environment, soil and groundwater. This study aims to evaluate the effect of incorporation of these wastes to obtain ceramic bodies. The raw materials will consist of two samples of this waste, one of grog and other marble and granite. The gradual incorporation into conventional mass of clays used by the local red ceramic industries will be done. Will be raised characteristics in terms of chemical composition, X-ray diffraction, particle size distribution, thermal analysis, mass the formulation employing these residues are processed by sintering at four temperatures between 850 and 1150 deg C. Some technological properties such as bulk density and linear shrinkage, water absorption strength, flexural modulus will be raised to four sintering temperatures. The same physical and mechanical properties mentioned above will be raised to the bodies after burning. Some images by scanning electron microscopy are shown. The formation and evolution of crystalline phases in ceramic bodies will be monitored by XRD. It is expected that the end result analysis shows the maximum percentage of residue incorporated into the dough. The performance improvement of ceramic samples with these wastes will be a contribution to increased productivity in the ceramic industry, with the introduction of the concept of minimization and recycling of wastes.
