Solutions of the kinetic equation for a collisionless plasma in an external electromagnetic field
Description
The only exact solution to the Cauchy problem for the kinetic equation for a relativistic collisionless plasma in the field of a strong plane electromagnetic wave of arbitrary polarization is found. Methods of iterative solution of the kinetic equation are compared. In the case of a magnetized plasma when the plane wave propagates along a constant magnetic field is a formal solution of the kinetic equation is found that can serve as the basis for obtaining exact and approximate solutions of the equation in various special cases
